Summary: San pleads with her mother allow her to fight against the humans who have been defiling their forest. Moro has her own reasons for wanting San to stay out of the clan's battles. But to San's surprise, Moro's concerns have very little to do with San's weakness -- and far more to do with San's strength.

karanguni asked me for an immortality AU. I suppose that being post-canon, this Mononoke-hime ficlet doesn't entirely count as an AU. However, restoring the Shishigami's head like that must have had some lasting effect on both Ashitaka and San, though for Ashitaka the change would be more noticeable.
