Fandom: Princess Tutu
Rating: G
Summary: While cleaning the practice rooms at the end of the day, Ahiru comes upon Rue preparing her pointe shoes for the week to come.

Fandom: My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
Rating: G
Summary: Katarina, naturally desperate to figure out exactly which potential suitor has caught Maria's eye (and thereby come up with the most appropriate escape route for herself), has devised an absolutely ingenious and completely foolproof plan for determining the most likely love interest. Admittedly, it wasn't really a part of the Fortune Lover game mechanics, but what better way could there be to reveal Maria's secret longings than through the traditional "support-boosting gift" method? All she has to do is present Maria with four potential gift options tailored to the likes of the four young men who might receive them, and then step back and wait to see the results!
...or at least, that's the plan.
Notes: A little side note, somewhere in the anime's first season. Written for [archiveofourown.org profile] serenissima for Yuletide 2022. Additional notes are at the end. (Also on AO3.)

Title: Print on Demand
Fandom: Toshokan Sensou
Rating: G
Summary: When a local middle school's literature club is devastated by the Media Improvement Committee's decision to block all access to a certain original-fiction-writing website, the staff of the Musashino First Library take it as a prime opportunity to introduce the students to the traditional handicraft of Japanese book-binding -- and the modern history of samizdat publishing.
Notes: This story is set, for the most part, in the November and December that mark the intervening weeks between the end of the Toshokan Sensou novel and the early portions of Toshokan Nairan -- after the battle for the Museum of Information History, around the time when Iku's parents arrive for their visit. Any inadvertent timeline errors are, of course, my own. Written for [archiveofourown.org profile] Griddlebone for Yuletide 2021. Additional notes are at the end. (Also on AO3.)

Summary: San pleads with her mother allow her to fight against the humans who have been defiling their forest. Moro has her own reasons for wanting San to stay out of the clan's battles. But to San's surprise, Moro's concerns have very little to do with San's weakness -- and far more to do with San's strength.

But when their arrangements are threatened by a Suzuki family quarrel, Junnosuke gives them a little help to keep their New Year's Eve tradition alive.

This story begins in the year following the end of Always Sanchōme no Yūhi (December 1959) and ends in early January 1964. Fandom: Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie
Rating: U
Summary: 'Even when I ask about him, all that anyone will ever say is that he is the Arch-Enemy of all Stories, the Prince of Silence, the Foe of Speech. But they will not tell me what he is like, or what he can do, or how he will react to those who try to stop him. How can we spy on him if we don't know the first thing about him?'
Notes: Written for [archiveofourown.org profile] Lalaith for Yuletide 2011. (Also at AO3). A missing scene that takes place shortly before the Plentimaw Fishes find that they cannot go on any further, and Haroun and the others leave them behind to continue their journey towards the Old Zone.

Originally posted: Yuletide 2010 (also available at AO3)
Summary: It began, as it ended, with a book and an outstretched hand.
Disclaimer: All original works are copyright of their respective owners; I lay claim only to this particular story.
Notes: This story is an expansion of a short piece I wrote several years ago, a scene that I have always wanted to flesh out beyond the 100-word limit imposed by a drabble. It is really only the prelude to a much longer story, one that I hope to write out fully one day, but for now I hope this will suffice.

A note of caution: This story describes an incident of corporal punishment of a child -- not in particularly graphic detail, but enough to require a brief warning all the same.

Summary: Friendships, like reservoirs, are often shaped by what lies well below the surface. But even after thirty years of friendship, Will Stanton is not entirely prepared to find some unexpected depths.
Disclaimer: All original works are copyright of their respective owners; I lay claim only to this particular story.
Notes: Like any good piece of political fiction, this story has its origins in a kernel of truth. On 19 October 2005, the Liverpool City Council did in fact issue an apology for the flooding of the Tryweryn valley, an act that was instrumental in building support for Plaid Cymru as a Welsh nationalist political party and for Welsh devolution in general. I hope that I have changed or obscured sufficient details -- including Bran's constituency and ministerial office -- to avoid giving any offence. Any factual errors in this fictional world, however inadvertently introduced, are entirely my own.

Title: A Matter of Finesse
Fandom: House of Cards
Rating: 12/PG (implied noncanonical m/m relationship)
Originally posted: Yuletide 2007 (also available at AO3)
Summary: In March 1979, Conservative Party whip Francis Urquhart is about to engineer the downfall of the Labour Government -- and he has no intention of letting an overeager young policy researcher muck things up. Pre-canon, implied (but only implied) Francis Urquhart/Tim Stamper.
Disclaimer: All original works are copyright of their respective owners; I lay claim only to this particular story.
Notes: The initial framing idea for 'A Matter of Finesse' is heavily based on the actual series of events that led up to the 1979 General Election, in which Jim Callaghan's Labour Government was turned out of office and replaced by a Conservative Government under Margaret Thatcher. As a result, the events of this story take place approximately 11 years before the events of House of Cards. With a few minor adjustments to compensate for the fictional nature of the series, all of the parliamentary procedures and other political aspects of this story -- including the arcane legal and constitutional regulations of life and death in the Palace of Westminster -- are quite true and accurate.
